My Approach:

Healing is not a quick fix, but growth, change and improvement are always possible. I have witnessed and experienced the privilege of self-development in my 30 years of wellbeing and clinical work. You are unique and I am committed and passionate to support you with your challenges.

Best practice therapy is not a sterile, medical conversation and it is also not just talking about superficial things, it is a significant therapeutic relationship characterised by honesty, authenticity, intentionality, and directness. The more open we are, the more deeply we can process, resolve, and move forward. Therapy is catharsis as well as gaining skills to manage the human mind.

I use evidence-based techniques drawing from CBT, ACT, DBT, Schema and Trauma informed strategies as well as EMDR, Emotional Freedom and Emotion Focussed Therapies, peronalised to address your individual needs, challenges and circumstances. These skills will enable you to reflect and gain insight into the undercurrent narratives of your mind, find clarity and peace of mind, to live a meaningful life to your best potential.

If you’ve suffered from mental health issues for quite some time and tried a few therapies without any resolve, I would like to invite you to engare in psychodynamic therapy. Psychodynamic therapy helps you understand long-standing conflict caused by unconscious mental and emotional processes. It involves recognising and overcoming repressed and unspent emotions through free association, clarification, interpretation and dream analysis. By gaining an understanding of what is happening, symptoms often fade and you will feel the difference after only a few sessions.

Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.

  • Clinical Psychotherapists are highly trained in mental health, including identifying different mental health difficulties, conceptualising factors that help and hinder well-being, and providing therapy grounded in research. It takes at least eight years of education and training to become a Dr Sc (Psychotherapy). Clinical Psychotherapists work in psychiatric clinics and private practice with medicare registration. Clinical Psychotherapy distinguishes itself from other mental health professions through the focus on the therapeutic modalities and therapeutic relationship.

  • This will depend on the difficulties you are facing and your goals for therapy. We can discuss this and devise a plan that works for you.

  • Self-referrals are welcome. However, you will need a referral from a doctor if you want to access Medicare-rebated sessions.

  • You may be able to access up to 10 Medicare-rebated psychology sessions per calendar year under the Better Access Initiative. The most common way people access these sessions is via a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from their GP. If you don’t currently have a treatment plan, please book in for a consultation with your GP to discuss this. To access the rebate, you will need to provide a copy of your referral prior to your first session. Once you have paid for your appointment, your Medicare rebate will be processed automatically and should clear in your nominated bank account within 2-3 business day.

  • Psychological therapy sessions may be subsidised by your health fund depending on your cover. Please check with your provider. As per Medicare mandates, if electing to subsidise a session fee with private health, you cannot also utilise a Medicare rebate.

  • The fee is $180 for a 50-60 minute consultation. With a Mental Health Treatment Plan you can access a $81.90 Medicare rebate for each 50-minute session, thereby paying $98.10 out of pocket. The fee for couples’ counselling is $200 and not covered by Medicare. Full payment is required immediately after your appointment.

  • If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please advise via email as soon as you can. A cancellation fee of 50% applies for missed or forgotten sessions where less than 24-hours’ notice is provided. This cannot be claimed under Medicare. Of course, sudden illness or emergencies can arise, and such circumstances will be taken into account when determining cancellation fees. In these situations, please provide as much notice as you can.

  • If you have questions, please email. I also offer a no-cost initial 15-minute phone call to explore your needs and answer your questions. I will aim to respond to your query within two business days.
